ODOT I-84 at Graham Road, OR

Replaced two deteriorating bridges along I-84 and widened Graham Road to provide improved vertical clearance along with pedestrian and bicycle facilities.

Quick Facts

  • A temporary bridge was constructed to maintain mobility along I-84 during construction

  • A temporary crossover was utilized to transition I-84 traffic to the temporary bridge structure

  • Prior to construction, there were no sidewalks and narrow shoulders along Graham Road

  • The project required full closures of I-84 and I-84 entrance and exit ramps

Results

  • Two new bridges along I-84 eastbound and westbound

  • An improved Graham Road that meets vertical clearances under I-84 and capacity needs associated with increased northbound traffic volumes caused by new development north of I-84

  • Pedestrian and bicycle facilities along Graham Road underneath I-84 to connect land uses on the north and south sides of the Interstate

  • Developed construction staging and detour plans to accommodate all users during construction including freight, pedestrians, and bicycles

  • Developed final plans, specifications, and engineering estimates for traffic signals, lighting, intelligent transportation systems, and temporary traffic control
