Gateway Street Overlay, Springfield, OR

DKS provided traffic signal communications alternatives analysis and developed final plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for improvements.

QUICK FACTS:

    • Evaluated a variety of signal interconnect and remote communications options, including the wireless technology, fiber optic communications, and copper interconnect.
    • Changes to 6 traffic signals to comply with ADArequirements, replacement of existing vehicle detection, pedestrian pushbutton upgrades, and minor safety improvements.

RESULTS:

    • DKS worked with City staff to determine which communication option would best suit the City’s short-term and long-term needs, while staying within the allotted budget. DKS also coordinated closely with the project design team to develop pushbutton and ADA ramp designs that complied with current accessibility requirements.

OUR WORK:

  • DKS provided traffic engineering and traffic signal communications alternatives analysis to update the corridor to meet ADA requirements, replace impacted signal communication along the corridor, update existing pavement markings, make key signing upgrades, and improve safety at the signalized intersections with only minor improvements.
