Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Intern

Location: Portland, OR

Summary:

The successful candidate will work on various traffic engineering and transportation planning projects. Depending on skill set and interest, work tasks can include: electrical design of traffic signal and street lighting, traffic signal cabinet wiring diagrams, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) control systems and communications; processing and analysis of telematics, traffic sensors, and crash data; web development for public involvement and client tools; creation of reports and presentations; and perform other quality technical and analytical tasks.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum junior year in university degree program with Engineering or computer coursework
  • Interest in transportation systems analysis and design
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Work both as a team member and independently

 Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in electrical, control systems, or communications design
  • Experience in programming, scripting, or web development
  • Experience in GIS, database management, or data analysis
  • Current or previous work experience with a consulting firm or public agency
