President Graphic AnnouncementDKS Associates announced Peter Coffey has been elected President effective July 13, 2017. As President, Peter will have responsibility for providing overall leadership to advance the company’s growth, providing oversight and strategic direction to each of the firm’s offices.

“I am both honored and excited about the future to extend DKS’ legacy”, said incoming President, Peter Coffey. “Our firm will continue to focus on shaping the future of transportation with the goal of building safer and more efficient communities while we provide opportunities for our employees to advance.”

In addition, the Board established two new positions by electing Jim Peters as Chief Business Development Officer, and Chris Maciejewski as Chief Operating Officer. “This collaboration will ensure we operate as a high-performing team contributing to the success of the organization. I am very excited about the future of DKS,” said Jim. “We have a great opportunity to build on our strengths and align our company’s focus from top to bottom, which positions us to achieve success with our new strategic plan,” stated Chris.

Peter Coffey is a 32-year veteran of DKS having spent his entire career with the company. His roles have included serving as the Oakland and Portland office manager, board member and principal-in-charge of some of the firm’s most prominent projects. He will work in tandem with Randy McCourt, outgoing DKS President, who will help to ensure a smooth leadership transition and serve as an advisor to Peter on key strategic initiatives. Randy will continue working with DKS following the transition focusing on staff mentorship, business development, and identifying smarter transportation initiatives where DKS can best shape the transportation experience of our clients.

“The team of Peter, Chris and Jim has a multi-decade track record of success at DKS building an impressive tradition of operational and strategic accomplishments,” said Randy McCourt. “They have proven to be successful and trusted leaders, experts in transportation consulting services, and bring a strong reputation for innovation, staff development and exemplary client service. Their knowledge and experience will be an asset as we carry DKS into its fifth decade.”

The process of leadership transition began two years ago with the DKS Board of Directors. This open process was facilitated with the help of a search committee of outside directors providing assessment, recommendations and ongoing guidance to DKS’ board. “This has been a most thorough and meticulous process to ensure the best leadership was identified moving forward for DKS and positioning the firm to best execute its emerging strategic vision,” said search committee chair, Tim Psomas, chairman emeritus of PSOMAS, a leading engineering services firm headquartered in Los Angeles. Additional search committee members included John Worthington, Chairman of the Board of Trafficware, and Michael D’Alessandro, Director of Corporate Development of Geosyntec.

Peter Coffey joined DKS in 1985 after receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University. He is professionally registered in Oregon and Washington.
